Take No Days Off...

Last night and this morning I've done a lot of thinking while watching videos that "speak" to me. On my jog with Bud I was listening to the new Eric Thomas download I bought last night. This is what I listened to on my jog...

Now this is only Episode 1...make sure you watch/listen to the others too. These are mind-changing messages. We can all achieve greatness and we can all achieve our dreams...but we have to put in the work. We can't just sit on the couch hoping it'll happen. We have to make it happen. We can't just wish or dream for it to happen...get it done.

If you're like me and didn't have a clue who Giavanni Ruffin is...this vid is my fav and my first exposure to him. He too, is an inspiration. Take No Days Off.....

This hottie gets up at 3am to get his grind on. Seriously?! The rest of the world is still sleeping, but not him. He is on the road to making his dreams come true. You gotta put in the time if you want the success you dream of! Don't forget to watch part 2 of this vid. Also check out his YT channel.

I've been getting up for the last 2 weeks at 4am during the week. Not until today did I decide to do the same on the weekend. It's Sunday, but my butt set the alarm for 5am and let me tell ya my body was ready for it. I was eager to get up that I got up before my alarm went off. And I'm happy to say that Bud and I got a full 45 minutes of jogging in. It was great! During the week I sometimes can get in a good 30 minutes, but if I snooze then I try to get him at least 20 minutes. The boy is knocked out now! I finally got my mojo back when it comes to jogging. I push myself a little each time, but I'm still enjoying it. The wind in our hair...Bud's tongue hanging out with a big smile as we stroll down the road.

I'm sorry...but I have to put a little PSA in here - IF YOU ARE A DOG OWNER, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET YOUR BUTT UP AND TAKE YOUR DOG FOR A JOG. DOGS NEED AT LEAST 45 MINUTES OF EXERCISE DAILY. IF YOU CAN'T JOG OR AREN'T READY FOR IT...START WITH WALKING. YOUR DOG WILL THANK YOU. IF YOU HAVE AN ACTIVE DOG (LIKE I DO) THEY NEED IT IN ORDER TO NOT GET ALL STRESSED OUT OR WILD. AND NO, LETTING YOUR DOG OUT IN THE BACK YARD TO RUN AROUND IS NOT SUFFICIENT. DOG OWNERS NEED TO PUT THEIR LAZINESS ASIDE AND GET THEIR DOG MOVING!

And now on to the rest....

Bud and I jogged for 45 minutes and had a nice little light show thanks to the Man above. We got back and popped in Insanity. I didn't work out yesterday so I did what was scheduled for that day - Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs. My total workout time was 100 minutes with a calorie burn of 996 calories! 4 calories away from 1000...

Oh and if you have a rough time getting some energy in the morning or just want more, I highly recommend Gaspari's Superpump Max. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and love it! You're supposed to take it 30 - 40 minutes before you workout. I take it right before I go for my jog because I want the extra energy for Insanity. I hope I'm not hindering the effects of it cause I still feel really energetic when Insanity rolls around. I bet I wouldn't be as energetic if I didn't take it and still did the jog and followed it with Insanity. So I'm going to stick with it. BUT if you know for a fact that I could be hindering the effects...let me know!

And now on to RECOVERY! I made a shake with extra greens in it. Today's concoction was Vegan Chocolate Shakeology with 2 handfuls of baby spinach, 2 T PB2 (powdered peanut butter), 3 scoops of Glutamine, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk, 2 packs of stevia and ice. It was pretty tasty!

Insanity Day 1

I started Insanity y'all! Today was the Fit Test and it still kicks my butt...

I followed my menu all day until I realized that after my 4th meal (@ 1:50pm) - I didn't have anything to hold me over until dinner. Good thing I had a Luna bar in my desk drawer. Dinner is the only meal that I'm not going hard core Insanity Diet, but the meals will still be healthy.

OMG y'all...I found out some AMAZING news today (at least to me it is)! The Crockin' Girls are coming to the ATX this Wednesday. So, I had to rush out to get their cookbook, I can't have them sign nothing right?! I met my mom at Costco since I knew it would be the cheapest there than at Barnes & Noble. And I was right...$20 instead of $33 at B&N. The quality of the book is awesome too so I understand why it is a little more costly.

When I got home I MADE myself do my leg workout. I just wasn't feeling it, but I have to stay accountable to myself the most and to my friends who I'm working out with too. I'm so used to letting myself down and I'm just fed up with it. It's become so easy to do it and the outcome is me in the same spot as I was before. If I continue on this path, my life will never be the way I envision it. I want big things y'all!

Sexy legs are compliments of the Tone It Up girls!

Tomorrow's a new day guys! Let's werk it hard! Don't regret tomorrow...

Super PUMPED!

I'm super pumped for the upcoming weeks! I have a couple of things that are coming up that will make me a better me...

This coming Sunday is the start of the Unglued bible study - whoop whoop! Cause God knows that I come "unglued" VERY quickly to the people that mean the most to me. I need to get that in check REAL quick. You should join the bible study with all of us. It's online and super easy to maintain. I believe we'll be reading 2 chapters a week. That's totally do-able...if you want to change.

Is this you....

The next thing I'm SUPER DUPER pumped about is starting Insanity with my friend Sandra. Day 1 is Oct 1 which will be here sooner than I can even imagine. Not to worry though...I've already scheduled my time to go over the nutrition book and jot down some simple recipes that I can eat daily. I'll still be eating whatever I make for the family for dinner, but the rest of the day is going to be Insanity approved meals. Momma needs to do something before her birthday in November - I don't want to be the same as I currently am.

AND the last but definitely not the least thing I'm pumped about is this book I picked up the other day at B&N...Intuitive Eating. This book was recommended by one of the chicas whose blog I follow...Healthy Hits The Spot. Here's the book description from Amazon:

First published in 1995, Intuitive Eating has become the go-to book on rebuilding a healthy body image and making peace with food. We’ve all been there—angry with ourselves for overeating, for our lack of willpower, for failing at yet another diet. But the problem is not us; it’s that dieting, with its emphasis on rules and regulations, has stopped us from listening to our bodies. Written by two prominent nutritionists, Intuitive Eating will teach you:
• How to reject diet mentality forever
• How our three Eating Personalities define our eating difficulties
• How to find satisfaction in your eating
• How to feel your feelings without using food
• How to honor hunger and feel fullness
• How to follow the ten principles of ”Intuitive Eating”,
• How to achieve a new and safe relationship with food and, ultimately, your body
• How to raise an "intuitive eater"–NEW!

• The incredible science behind intuitive eating–NEW!

This revised edition includes updates and expansions throughout, as well as two brand new chapters that will help readers integrate intuitive eating even more fully into their daily lives.

Check it out cause we need to get rid of this "diet" mentality. I know I'm truly screwed up by it and my major focus is that I don't want my kids, especially my daughter to grow up with the mentality that I have. It's a freakin' vicious cycle that has no winners in the end.

And last but definitely not least AGAIN...I'm on day 12 of PUSH! Whoop Whoop! I've stuck with it. I must admit that during the weekend I was lazy, excuse me...I didn't take the initiative to read. BOO on me - I know! But I did catch up...I only had 2 chapters that I got behind on. I'm almost half way done with it which will be an accomplishment in and of itself since I've never finished the book.

Here's to OUR success everyone!

Work HARD, Play HARD...

Insanity Day 5: Pure Cardio

It's Day 5 of Insanity! Pure Cardio was today's workout and it was rough. I couldn't catch my breathe AGAIN! This time it is straight cardio...nonstop. The other workouts this week would do cardio circuits for a period of time and then you'd rest for 30 seconds. I'm hoping as time goes by and I get used to the workouts that I'm able to burn more calories. All the workouts aren't very long...about 40 minutes. I've been burning between 350 - 400 calories per session.

Today's Meals:

M1: Berry Smoothie (1.5 scoops of Vega Sport Vanilla, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup frozen blackberries)

M2: Protein Pancake (1 whole egg, 2 egg whites, protein powder, oatmeal, a little bit of water)

M3: Salad (3 cups of mixed greens, 3 oz chicken breast, cucumber, 1/2 apple chopped, pecans, juice of 1 lemon)

Insanity Day 2: Plyometric Cardio Circuit

PLYOMETRIC CARDIO CIRCUIT

Today was the first official workout and I have been scared about it since I ordered the program - EEK! The warm up was not a warm up at all...at least not one I've done before (except when doing Insanity: The Asylum). It was 10 minutes of running and jumping AND then we got to stretch - ahaha! This video was only about 40 minutes but it keeps your heart pounding the entire time. I really liked it. It's a totally different way of training than I've done in the past. I can't wait to see what's in store for me tomorrow and the day after and the day after!

Meal 1 was PROATMEAL. Now if you don't know what that is...it's simply oatmeal and protein powder. This also a splash of almond milk, 1 tsp of chopped walnuts, and 1/2 cup of strawberries. It was good, but I'm not used to eating that much oatmeal. It's hard for me to eat 1/2 cup let alone 2/3 cups of this stuff. So it took me some time to get through it and that's ok.

Meal 2 was a very delish Egg Sandwich on a whole grain English Muffin. I used the light kind that only has 100 calories. Besides eggs, there is turkey bacon and a couple of slices of tomatoes. Loved this!

Meal 3 was good too! It was Black Bean Vegetable Soup from Amy's Organics with a half of a sandwich. The sandwich was made of light honey wheat bread, some spicy brown mustard, 2 thin slices of avocado, and some turkey breast lunch meat. Now I'm an avocado lover and I thought the "thin" slices wouldn't be enough, BUT they were. They gave it a hint of creaminess that just melted in my mouth ;)

Busy, Busy, Busy...Who Isn't?!

Yesterday was a LONG day...I guess that's why I'm so dragging today.

After work, we had an appointment set to meet a Dyslexia Specialist for our daughter. And all I can say is OMG! the specialist was so awesome and spent so much time explaining everything to us. You can definitely feel her devotion and commitment to helping kids with dyslexia. There is no doubt that I want this lady to work with my daughter to make her the best she can be in her life. If your child or someone you know has been diagnosed with dyslexia, please contact Regina Staffa at Academic Therapy Center. Her office is located in south Austin. And I can tell you from experience that most of the centers/therapists that help with dyslexia are mostly located in north Austin. I'm so glad that a coach on Kaycie's softball team referred her to us.

After meeting for nearly two hours with Mrs. Staffa, we were starving - haha! We made our first ever trip to The Green Mesquite in Southpark Meadows. I don't think I could say it any better, but my hubby said "Well, I guess we can 'X' this place off the list!" - haha! Seriously people, it was not worth the $$$. We could have gone to Bill Miller's BBQ across the street for the same quality of food. I don't suggest you going to this place IF you like your brisket to be nice and juicy...

Dinner is now over and we make our way back home...so its about 8:30pm and I still have a lot to do. I get home about 9ish to check Kaycie's bag for our trip this weekend, I pack my bag and then decide to do my Insanity: The Asylum workout of the day...RELIEF! It felt good too. Once that was done I started getting some foods and drink ready for the cooler to take with us.

I honestly can not tell you what time I went to bed last night, only to wake up at 5am and get my a$$ handed to me by Shaun T for my workout of the day...GAME DAY! Some times I wonder how sick I must be to wake up so early to get my heartrate up before work. BUT it pays off in the end...I feel so much better about doing it in the end.

REMEMEBER THIS: YOU'LL NEVER REGRET A WORKOUT!
